Our Mission

Brooklyn Archival exists to democratize museum-quality fine art printing—because every artist deserves to see their work realized at the highest level.

The journey of bringing art into the world is fraught with unnecessary barriers, often discouraging creators before they even begin. As a working artist myself, I know this firsthand. In 2013, fresh out of RISD and navigating New York’s art world, I hit those walls too. So I built a solution: a studio where impeccable prints are accessible to all artists, whether emerging or established, DIY or institutional.

Over a decade later, we’ve collaborated with thousands—from first-timers holding their work on paper for the very first time, to renowned names preparing for major exhibitions. The common thread? The thrill of seeing vision become tangible, without compromise.

This is more than printing. It’s removing obstacles, one masterpiece at a time.

Let’s make yours next.

Meet the owner

Rob MacInnis was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia where he studied photography at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. After working as a professional artist he returned to school at RISD (the Rhode Island School of Design) where he received a Presidential Scholarship, earning his MFA in Photography in 2013.

He honed the crafts of fine art printing, color and image correction, art handling best practices, artwork documentation, and archiving first within his own artistic and professional practice eventually branching out to offer his services to others when he moved to New York City. It was in New York that he recognized there was a need for high quality, affordable, and accessible printing and imaging services. Brooklyn Archival began 10 years ago in a loft in Bushwick, migrating across the borough to Gowanus and is now based in Dumbo where it is entering into its 10th anniversary year as a small business offering one on one personalized service.

When Rob is not printing and scanning he is pursuing his fine art photography practice and his passion for film. He can be found dreaming of improvement projects for the summer cottage in Canada that his grandfather built and going on adventures across the city with his toddler daughter and his infant son.
